3 MISTAKES TO AVOID WHILE SETTING UP DRESSING ROOM

Updated: Jun 15, 2021

Having a separate dressing room is not only convenient; it also makes your home fashionable, and beautiful. A dressing room provides you the comfort of getting dressed in the best possible way, allow you to place things needed for dressing together without disturbing the rest of the household. There are many other advantages of having a separate dressing room. Being interior designers in Mumbai, we have come up with this blog post to introduce you to a couple of mistakes that you should avoid while setting up a dressing room. So, without wasting any time, let us have a look at them in brief:

Mistake #1: Allocating Too Small Space for a Dressing Room The area for a dressing room should not be less than 3-4 square meters. Anything less than 3-4 square meters can create trouble in placing standard rods, shelves, and hangers. In addition to dressing yourself up, if you are going to use your dressing room for ironing, changing clothes, storing shoes, etc., the area of the room should be at least 6-8 square meters.

Mistake #2: Choosing a Dressing Room with Low Ceiling Another commonly found mistake in setting up a dressing room is choosing a space with low ceiling height, for example, under the stairs, in the attic of the house. The higher the height of the ceiling is, the easier it will be for you to dress up. In a dressing room with optimal ceiling height, you can also allocate space under the ceiling for rarely-used things, such as off-season clothes, etc. Our interior designers in Mumbai can help you decide the optimal height of the ceiling for a dressing room.

Mistake #3: Ignoring Ventilation & Highly Humid Area Nothing lives for eternity, not even our clothes and accessories. Dressing rooms set next to the highly humid area and without ventilation, such as kitchen, bathrooms, laundry rooms, etc., can “rot” your dressing-related belongings, especially clothes. So, while planning a dressing room, it is advised to maintain a distance from damp areas, and make sure that there’s an arrangement for ventilation.
